Comebacks and New beginnings
Tom Bruce’s inclusion is a major boost to the Scottish squad. The former Black Caps batter qualifies for the Scotland side through his Edinburgh-born father. Bruce has now committed to Scotland after last playing an international match for New Zealand in February 2020 against India in a 5-match T20I series.
Josh Davey returns to the Scottish setup. Davey was unavailable for selection for nearly three years due to county commitments. He last represented Scotland at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. Chris Greaves receives a call-up to the squad for his strong performances in T20s.
Steve Knell, the Cricket Scotland Head of Performance, stated that there had been conversations with Bruce to represent Scotland for some time. He further added that Bruce is proud of his Scottish heritage and sees plenty of opportunity for himself and the team by representing Scotland. Knell said that Davey had always expressed his desire to play for Scotland and expects him to be in good rhythm, joining off the back of 50-Over matches with Somerset. On Greaves, Knell believes that his leg spin will be a huge point of difference.
Scotland will aim to climb up the table in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2 Series by gaining some valuable points in the upcoming series. With the exciting new changes to the squad, it is a promising time for Scottish Cricket.
