Day 1 Stumps:
Bangladesh - 292-4 after 90 Overs
(Mushfiqur Rahim 99* Mominul Haque 63; Andy McBrine 4-82)
Mushfiqur Rahim headlined opening day of the second Test match with a magnificent 99* in his 100th Test match. With 20 years of service, he became the first Bangladesh player to reach the milestone.
The highest wicket-taker in Tests for Ireland Andy McBrine enjoyed his day out in Dhaka. He might want to wrap this Dhaka pitch and carry it wherever he plays, as he made full use of the spin friendly conditions ending the day with four wickets.
He finds himself one away from another five-wicket haul in this format; this comes after taking seven wickets at the same venue two years ago.
Ireland handed out Test debuts to Gavin Hoey and Stephen Doheny, taking the total to four Test debuts given over the course of the two-match series, before Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first.
McBrine dominated the first session leaving Bangladesh at 95-3, the first wicket came with a successful DRS review by the Irish that saw Shadnam Islam sent back for 35.
This was followed by dismissing the centurions last game, with Mamudul Hasan Joy 34 and Najmul Hossain Shanto 8 early.
Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur put up a 107-run stand putting the hosts back on the front foot, however they also benefitted from Ireland's generosity in the field as they putting down three chances in the post-lunch session, including a couple of straighforward opportunities giving Mominul an extended time in the middle. McBrine finally broke the stand, dismissing Haque 63.
Litton Das scored 47 as he crossed 3000 Test runs becoming the sixth Bangladesh player to achieve the feat.
Mushfiqur finds himself one run away from joining an elite list of 10 players who have scored a century on their 100th game, his 99* kept the fans on their feet.
Bangladesh will look to take the game further away from Ireland on Day 2, while Ireland will hope to ask questions of the batters, and forge a comeback.
