Following strong performances in Thailand where Scotland clinched the Quad Cup and were separated by decimal points from lifting the inaugural ICC Emerging Nations trophy, Scotland are all set to inch closer to the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 spot as they announce 15-member squad for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier in Nepal.

Ellen Watson is the player to miss out from the 14-player squad that travelled to Thailand with two players added to the mix.

The Scots are strengthened with full-time captain Kathryn Bryce returning to the set-up, handing a major boost to the entire unit.

Head Coach, Craig Wallace was full of praise for their captain in a statement to Cricket Scotland:

“It’s pleasing to welcome Kathryn Bryce back, she’s our captain and a world class player, and she adds so much value to all aspects of the game, both on and off the pitch. Sarah Bryce and Abtaha Maqsood did an outstanding job in Thailand leading the group, and Kathryn just adds value on top of that.”

Pippa Sproul joins the side,  having been unavailable for the tour to Thailand due to school commitments, her introduction to the squad could be an X factor for Scotland as the 17-year-old is expected to make her T20I debut for Scotland over the course of the tournament, having previously played for the national team in the ODI World Cup Qualifiers back in April 2025.

Wallace further added:

“We have a really exciting opportunity ahead of us going into Nepal, with an opportunity to qualify for another World Cup. We know how hard qualifying tournaments are, and the Emerging Nations Trophy showed us how tough associate cricket is, so we just need to take it one game at a time and play how we know we can.

“Having that time together in Thailand was really important to get everyone back together and play T20 cricket as a group for this first time in a while. It was great getting to work on a few different things in terms of how we want to play and push the players really hard – we still have work to do, but it was good to get some hard games under our belt and play in high-pressure situations.”

The tournament takes place between 12 January and 2 February, with Scotland among ten teams fighting for four spots at the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England next summer.
