Scotland were scheduled to play two games each against Canada and Namibia, however, the frequent and incessant rains in Ontario meant the first game against Namibia was abandoned without a ball bowled.
The images of a wet patch around a pitch was set on fire doing rounds across news outlets and social media. Eventually, Scotland played their first match against Canada restricting the hosts to 184 before cruising to a seven-wicket victory.
Rain threatened to play spoilsport in the reverse fixture against Namibia v Scotland, but a curtailed 24-over game did take place. Scotland successfully defended the target of 164 as Namibia crashed out for 109 against some incisive bowling as Scotland sealed a 55-run victory.
Their last match against Canada was abandoned without a ball bowled as well, due to softness in one part of the pitch which meant Scotland took home six points from four games that were enough to take them to the top of the ICC CWC League 2 table. Overall it turned out to be a successful tour with no defeats, yet the rain limiting Scotland’s potential to maximise points.
Key Contributors for Scotland
George Munsey was the standout performer delivering match-winning performances in consecutive victories. The opener scored a sublime 89* in the first match against Canada and followed it up with a blistering 59 from 31 balls in a rain-affected 24-over game against Namibia, picking the Player of the Match award in both games.
The southpaw has been the top performer of the ICC CWC League 2 campaign scoring 1037 runs in only 17 innings with an average of 64.81. His most notable performance came against the Netherlands on 12 June 2025 when the batter broke the record for the highest individual score in Associate ODI cricket scoring 191 from 150 balls.
Among bowlers, Brad Currie proved to be crucial taking six wickets in his two outings, with bowling figures of 4-26 against Canada and 2-7 against Namibia. Currie was a thorn in the side, especially for the top order batters striking in the first over in both the ties.
Despite rain denying them the opportunity to extend their advantage, Scotland look to be in a strong position to achieve a top 4 spot and progress for the World Cup Qualifier.
