Fans at Benoni were left frustrated as the third T20I between South Africa and Ireland was abandoned without a ball being bowled. The start was initially delayed due to a wet outfield, and a subsequent lightning threat forced the players to halt their warmup and leave the field before the skies opened up which sealed the series 2–0 in favour of the hosts.

The Irish camp will be disappointed at being denied a third opportunity to test themselves against one of the best sides in world cricket. Despite defeats in the first two fixtures, the visitors had shown clear signs of improvement between the opening game and the second and would have been eager for further competitive action in the build up to the ICC Global Qualifier.

With the Global Qualifier fast approaching, Ireland will be facing nine other teams from around the world as they attempt to secure their berth at the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup in England.

The tour continues in the longer white‑ball format, with the three-match ODI series scheduled to begin on Saturday, 13 December 2025.
