The Netherlands have named their squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
The Dutch are part of Group A and will play the opening match of the tournament against Pakistan at Colombo (SSC) before travelling to the capital of India where they face Namibia in New Delhi for a crucial encounter. The Dutch will then travel south to face the USA at Chennai, before playing co-hosts India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad which has a capacity of 132,000 people.
Scott Edwards continues to lead an experienced Dutch squad with key players like Roelof van der Merwe, Bas De Leede, Roelof van der Merwe and opener Michael Levitt returning to the side after missing out on the tour to Bangladesh.
The most notable omission from the squad is Tim Pringle. The 23 year-old represented the Netherlands in their tour to Bangladesh and was expected to be one of the first names on the teamsheet in the upcoming World Cup owing to his form in domestic competitions .
Ryan Cook told the KNCB:
“With experience in the past few World Cups, having played against all of the teams in our group recently and having exposure to the conditions in Sri Lanka and India, we are confident in our preparations over the past few months.”
“Players and staff have been working hard and making many sacrifices to put the team in a great position to succeed in the tournament.”
“Our squad has depth and variety in options which we feel will be effective against the opposition and in these conditions as well experience which will be important as we look to advance through the group stages.”
