Jersey Cricket CEO on shaping the future of women in cricket

Sarah Gomersall, the CEO of Jersey Cricket was the representative for her country at the ICC Europe Female Leaders’ Summit in Glasgow on 6 and 7 October. The event jointly hosted by Cricket Scotland and ICC Europe included a series of workshops and keynote speeches centred on the top-line theme of transferrable skills and knowledge.
The event brought together representatives from all over Europe including female leaders from Scotland, England, Ireland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Jersey and Finland.
Gomersall emphasised the importance of having a network of female leaders in European Cricket, calling it inspiring and energizing to be part of a network of women working towards the future of the sport. The theme of transferable skills invited conversations about drawing inspiration from business, innovation and other sports to help cricket thrive.
Gomersall told the BBC: “The summit challenged us to think differently about how we grow the game, applying entrepreneurial thinking and collaboration to drive progress.”
“We're proud that Jersey is seen as an open and accessible cricket destination.”
Jersey Cricket, the governing body of the sport affirmed their goal towards developing opportunities for female participation at all levels.
