Cricket Scotland hosted the delegates from seven countries from across Europe for an ICC Female leaders summit on Sunday that coincided with the start of Scottish Women and Girls in Sport week. The event, in partnership with ICC Europe, spanned across three days included female leaders from Scotland, England, Ireland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Jersey and Finland.
A series of workshops and keynote speeches centred on the top-line theme of Transferrable Skills and Knowledge were part of the event in Glasgow.
The first day began at Hutchesons Grammar School with a Wee Bash, which refers to an indoor softball cricket tournament for females. This was followed by a Women in Scottish Cricket celebration evening at Clydesdale Cricket Club.
ICC Europe hosted a series of workshops on Monday.
On Tuesday, Maree Todd MSP, Minister for Drugs and Alcohol Policy and Sport addressed the delegates and praised Cricket Scotland and ICC Europe for their role in promoting female leadership in cricket. Further discussing the importance of adaptability and resilience in leadership and career opportunities.
Nic Wilson, Cricket Scotland's Head of Growth and Partnerships said, "It's always great to connect with other female leaders from across Europe, as we all face different challenges, but also share many common day-to-day obstacles at the same time. The discussions across the last two days have focused on general leadership within our sport, and there've been many good thoughts around the challenges female leaders face in cricket.”
"It was fantastic to have Maree Todd MSP join us on Tuesday, and hear her experiences from her own leadership journey and career path into politics. She also displayed some terrific personal interaction and openness with the delegates which I know everyone really valued.”
Wilson also thanked ICC Europe for their support in hosting the conference, calling it highly beneficial.
