Italian cricket has announced key additions to its coaching structure, reinforcing both the women’s and U-19 men’s programmes as part of a broader high-performance vision led by the Federazione Cricket Italiana.
Hemantha Jayasena has been appointed to the U-19 men’s setup, Jayasena made his debut for Italy in 1998 and played as a left arm batter and leg-break bowler. His inclusion is expected to significantly strengthen Italy’s international ambitions as they continue their push in European and ICC competitions through his technical expertise.
For the women’s senior team, Sean Trow takes charge, marking an important step in the continued development of the women’s programme. His role will focus on improving performance standards, building squad depth, and guiding Italy’s rise in the international women’s game.
These appointments underline Italy’s commitment to strengthening its cricketing foundations after their participation in their first ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026.
With a sharper focus on coaching quality and player development, the federation is aiming to create a more competitive and sustainable future for Italian cricket, to get them back to the biggest stage but not as a headline, instead as a mainstay.
