Ireland's Under-19 Men's team will be touring Loughborough in England between 27 August and 4 September as they continue to prepare for the 2026 World Cup in Zimbabwe and Namibia. Their head coach Peter Johnston reckons that the young side will have a good outing with the three games they are scheduled to play.

The fixtures are as follows:

28 August 2025 - Ireland U-19s vs Challengers (team of players from several counties)

2 September 2025 - Ireland U-19s vs England U-19s

3 September 2025 - Ireland U-19s vs Bangladesh U-19s

Johnston, in a video posted on Cricket Ireland's social media pages, also spoke about the young Irish team is preparing for the next year's World Cup. He said that they already have a good idea about what the squad will look like for the big tournament.

"You know, we've probably looked at 20 odd players this summer... that squad will probably come down to maybe 18 or 19 over the winter but with all the opportunities we've had through provincial cricket, youth cricket, international cricket, I think we have a very good idea of the makeup of our side and the roles that players will be pushing for towards the World Cup," he said.

Johnston is also focused on making the Irish Under-19 team one of best fielding sides in the World Cup. He called fielding a 'major focus' and added that it is a controllable factor that they can work on.

The head coach also spoke about fitness and giving the young team the right resources to prepare for the tournament.

"Fitness, you know, guys have worked hard over the winter and we've maintained that now through the summer as well with some check-in time with S&C supervised sessions. There's been some very good education as well from a nutrition and psychology point of view. So really, I think just giving the players the resources that they need to go out and compete in the World Cup," Johnston said. He also added that they are working on making the players robust and resilient for the 'high-pressure environment' at the tournament.

The Irish Under-19 team toured Zimbabwe in April this year for a five-match ODI series to familiarise themselves with the playing conditions. It was the Under-19 team's first ever visit to the country, according to Cricket Ireland. Zimbabwe won the series 4-1 with Ireland managing a victory in the last ODI to avoid a whitewash.
