Thailand 59 all out (16.1 overs)
Naruemol Chaiwai 22 (37) Nannapat Koncharoenkai 15 (13); Arlene Kelly 4-7
Ireland won by 62 runs
Gaby Lewis held the innings together with a composed knock, navigating the tricky conditions to score 25 and take her tournament tally to 276 runs, the highest of the competition.
Amy Hunter, recalled to the XI in the previous match, impressed again with a rapid 24 off 15 balls, taking on the powerplay and giving the rest of the batting order the freedom to build at their own pace.
Ireland struggled to face Suleeporn Laomi who continued her good form with four wickets to her name as Ireland scored 121-8 in their 20 over quota.
The second innings saw Ireland dominate from start to finish as Lara McBride finished with figures of 3-6. Her career best in T20Is.
The Player of the Match in the fixture, Arlene Kelly ended up as the second-highest wicket taker in the competition with 13 wickets to her name and figures of 4-7, as McBride’s final blow saw Ireland beat Thailand by 62 runs.
Scotland 178-8 (20 overs)
Darcey Carter 52 (34), Ailsa Lister 43 (32); Tara Norris 4-33
USA 137 all out (19 overs)
Ella Claridge 35 (26) Chetna Reddy 24 (26); Chloe Abel 2-16
Scotland won by 41 runs
Scotland came into this game with their fate in their own hands and when the stakes were at their highest, the out of form Darcey Carter showed her unquestionable ability, scoring a rapid half century with 52 from 34 balls.
The fourth over sparked hope for a shift in momentum as Tara Norris removed Katherine Fraser and then struck again off the very next ball to dismiss skipper Kathryn Bryce. But the Scottish middle order had other ideas, with Ailsa Lister’s 43 off 32 and Priyanaz Chatterji’s 39 off 28 powering the total up to 178 for 8.
On a rare outing where the skipper does not perform with that bat she makes up for it with the ball, Kathryn struck in the first over to put USA taking one of her two wickets.
Chatterji and Chloe Abel picked up two wickets each as well which meant the USA never looked to get into the game despite a valiant 35 (26) by Ella Claridge.
Scotland wrapped up the game in the 19th over and secured a 41-run victory and their second consecutive spot at the T20 World Cup.
