Ireland Announces Men's Squad for T20I Series Against England

Home

Ireland Men’s team is set to host the first-ever T20I series against England starting 17 September at Malahide Cricket Club.

In the only two outings between the two neighbours, Ireland hold the edge having defeated England at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 in Melbourne while their 2010 rubber was washed out.

Fixtures

17 September - Ireland Men vs England Men, Malahide Cricket Ground

19 September - Ireland Men vs England Men, Malahide Cricket Ground

21 September - Ireland Men vs England Men, Malahide Cricket Ground

New Beginnings and Returns

Ben Calitz has been awarded his maiden senior international call-up to Ireland Men’s team. The 23-year-old was born in Vancouver, Canada and relocated to Ireland in 2022. In 2024 he played for Munster Reds in the Inter-Provincial Series and in the following year Calitz represented Northern Knights. In April 2025, he was selected for the Ireland Wolves tour to UAE.

Most Ireland players recently took part in 50-over Emerald Challenge series with all three matches affected by rain, they will rue the missed preparation time as only one match saw a result. Gareth Delany, Curtis Campher and Craig Young, who missed the last international series against the West Indies, have all been drafted in.

Mark Adair, Fionn Hand and Josh Little are still working through their rehabilitation programmes and are unavailable.

Andrew White, National Men's Selector told Cricket Ireland “While every match against England is a special occasion, this series takes on extra importance given we are less than six months out from the next T20 World Cup. These matches against England offer us an opportunity to test ourselves against one of the world’s best teams as we build-up to that tournament.”

Calitz offers versatility to the squad depth White emphasised providing a left-handed batting option and a wicket-keeping cover. In addition, he also mentioned Jordan Neill returns as cover for Mark.

The third match on Sunday 21 September has been sold out, with Friday’s game fast filling up.
