The Netherlands have announced their 15 member squad for their upcoming series in Bangladesh. The tour to Bangladesh consists of 3 T20 Internationals that commence on 30 August in Sylhet. The tour will be their maiden bilateral series in Bangladesh.
Maintaining Core
The Dutch have most of their key players from their previous squad. Captain Scott Edwards returns alongside opener Max O’Dowd after leading them to a successful European qualifying campaign. Pacers Kyle Klein and Paul van Meekeren and spinner Aryan Dutt keep the bowling core strong.
Missing Firepower
The Netherlands have two major absences with experienced all-rounders Bas De Leede and Roelof van der Merwe unavailable for selection as per Netherlands press release. The experienced Van der Merwe, who was the Player of the Match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Finals, will be missing as will opener Michael Levitt.
Another opportunity
Players that represented the Netherlands ICC Men’s 2024 T20 World Cup in USA and the Caribbean, Vikramjit Singh and Fred Klassen return to the squad. Tim Pringle, Ben Fletcher and Shariz Ahmed received a call up too. The challenging tour of Bangladesh will provide them with an opportunity to earn their spot back in the side.
This tour gives the Dutch a major opportunity to play and test their skills in sub-continent conditions ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in India.
