After a week that had tested their patience because of incessant rain that affected all their games in Namibia, Scotland finally found the relief they had been searching for, brushing aside hosts Namibia by seven wickets at Windhoek to register a much-needed victory in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2, courtesy a Brandom McMullen ton.

The win arrived at just the right time for a Scotland side that had endured a deeply frustrating leg of the tournament with two games washed out without a result had already denied them points they would have fancied, and a 12-run defeat to Oman on Wednesday which only deepened the sense of stagnation.

Namibia, batting first, were quickly put under pressure by a Scotland side with sharp intent. Willem Myburgh fell for just one, caught behind off Jack Jarvis.

McMullen got in on the act almost immediately, accounting for Malan Kruger and the dangerous Gerhard Erasmus cheaply. His third wicket came in the form of Namibia captain JJ Smit, who had shown his class with a well-crafted 43 off 68 and was leading the fightback.

Regular wickets meant that Namibia were eventually bowled out for 198, a total that always felt slightly under par.

McMullen, then rocked up with the bat as well, scoring an incredible century with 100* in 92 balls as Scotland's response was composed and authoritative, knocking off the target in 38 overs, cruising home by seven wickets with 72 balls to spare, a statement victory in every sense.

McMullen, named Player of the Match, encapsulated everything Scotland needed from him potent with the ball, and composed enough with the bat to help his side chase down the total without alarm.

Scotland will now play a T20I series against Namibia set to begin on Wednesday, 15 April.
