The updated ICC rankings for T20 Internationals see a host of players from Ireland climb up. Most notably Irish skipper Gaby Lewis was rewarded for her recent consistency and reached her career best rating of 625 after her innings of 66* in the win against the Netherlands on August 21 in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup European Qualifier Division 1. Lewis has maintained her 15th place in the updated rankings with a current rating of 620.

Ireland have shown their quality, remaining unbeaten at the European Qualifier Division 1 so far, winning five straight games and booking their place at the Global Qualifier in their goal to qualify for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England. Lewis’s teammates Amy Hunter, Leah Paul and Freya Sargent also gained in the rankings on the back of their performances in the Europe Qualifiers.

Hunter hit her second T20I century on August 24 scoring 114* of 67 deliveries against Germany and maintains her 29th spot among T20I batters. In the same match Paul scored a blitzing 62* of 33 balls which saw her rise 15 places to 75th in the batters’ ranking. Paul also jumped 13 spots in the all-rounder rankings to 64th position. Superstar Orla Prendergast remains in the top 10 of the all-rounder rankings after dropping two places to joint 8th position.

Teenager Sargent was the biggest winner in the bowlers ranking, going up six places to 86th. Arlene Kelly dropped nine places to 41. She did not feature in Ireland’s game against Germany in the Europe Qualifiers, however, she responded with figures of 5-14 and Player of the Match against Netherlands on August 26. This saw her become the leading wicket taker of the tournament.
