Netherlands pacer Vivian Kingma has been banned for three months after he tested positive for a recreational drug, following a test conducted after the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 ODI in Utrecht on 12 May.

The 30-year-old tested positive for Benzoylecognine (a cocaine metabolite that is specified as a Substance of Abuse under the (ICC Anti-Doping Code), at a procedural check following the match against the United Arab Emirates at the Sportpark Maarschalkerweerd ground.

Kingma admitted to the offence and was able to demonstrate that the substance had been ingested out-of-competition. Due to this Kingma was handed a three-month period of ineligibility, effective from 15 August 2025.

The three-month ban can be reduced if Kingma is able to demonstrate to the officials that he has satisfactorily completed an ICC-approved treatment programme., his period of ineligibility may be reduced to a maximum of one month.

Kingma's individual records from the ODI against the UAE on May 12th, and all subsequent matches, have been disqualified. This includes two ODIs against Nepal and Scotland, where he collectively bowled for figures of 2 for 122, and a T20I against Scotland, where he was taken off after bowling only three balls.
