Namibia Women- 113 all out 16.2 Overs

Netherlands win by 51 runs

Netherlands won their third game of the ICC Emerging Nations Trophy in dominant fashion on Wednesday registering a massive 51-run win over Namibia.

Namibia won the toss and put the Netherlands to bat, the first surprise came with Iris Zwilling coming out to open the innings alongside Phebe Molkenboer instead of Sterre Kalis.

The move paid positive results as Zwilling provided Netherlands with a good platform scoring 18 (14), before being dismissed by Eveleen Kejarukua, with Namibia dismissing Molkenboer 17 (21) five runs later for the first of three run-outs, the score read 43-2 after 6.3 overs.

Captain Babette De Leede and Kalis racked up a magnificent 73-run partnership for the third-wicket, in just 57 balls.

The stand was broken by another run-out that saw De Leede depart after a crucial 39 (34),  Robin Rijke came out to bat in a blitz and scored 21 (9) to boost the Netherlands run-rate.

Kalis extended her stay at the crease fall just shy of her half-century at 47 (38), after being clean bowled, as the Netherlands put up a formidable 164-4 on the board.

Rijke came out strong with the delivery dismissing Kayleen Green with the last ball of her first over.

Yasmeen Khan counter-attacked the Dutch bowling, smashing the ball all over the park, scoring 41 runs in 15 balls including two sixes.

Frerique Overdijk began her second over with the wicket of opener Edelle van Zyl, before she knocked over Yasmeen’s stumps, she took her third wicket of the over at the very next ball dismissing Mekelaye Mwatile.

The eventful fifth over of the game saw the score go from 54-1 to 63-4 with Netherlands further piling on misery courtesy Caroline de Lange taking two runs and two wickets in her first over leaving Namibia at 74-6 at the 10 over mark.

De Lange and Overdijk finished with figures of 3-11 and 4-18 respectively, as Namibia were dismissed for 113 in 16.2 overs. Netherlands will face the league leaders Scotland in their penultimate match of the competition.

PNG Women- 118-8 20 Overs

(Hollan Doriga 63 (51) Brenda Tau 12 (23); Chloe Abel 5-13)

Scotland Women- 121-4 19.5 Overs

(Sarah Bryce 39* (29) Darcey Carter 30 (41); Isabel Toua 1-24)

Scotland win by 6 wickets

Scotland clinched their fifth consecutive win in the Emerging Nations Trophy on Wednesday surviving a tense final-over finish to chase down Papua New Guinea’s 118 with one ball to spare.

Rachel Slater sealed the match slamming a boundary to cover fence off the penultimate delivery, denying PNG a chance at an important win after the bowlers had kept Scotland under severe pressure for most of the chase.

Earlier, PNG squandered a strong position after Hollan Doriga’s fluent half-century, collapsing from 100 for 2 to 100 for 6 and eventually finishing at 118 for 8 after 20 overs. Doriga counterattacked from the outset after Konio Oala fell in the first over, racing to a 39-ball fifty and driving PNG to a promising platform. But once she was dismissed for 63, shortly after being dropped on 58, the innings unravelled dramatically. Chloe Abel delivered a sensational triple-wicket maiden in the 16th over and went on to claim her maiden five-for, finishing with outstanding figures of 5 for 13.

Despite that collapse, PNG came out fiercely with the ball. Alisa Lister’s early dismissal set Scotland back, and disciplined spells, particularly from Mairi Tom, who opened with two maidens and bowled 16 dots in her 18 balls, held Scotland to 28 for 1 after the first six overs.

Ellen Watson and Darcey Carter put together a steady half-century stand, but the required rate continued to rise, and when Watson fell with 61 still needed, PNG sensed an opening. Carter struggled to break free and was eventually run out for 30 off 41 after a sharp direct hit from cover.

Sarah Bryce then shouldered the responsibility, cutting and pulling aggressively to keep Scotland in the contest, while Megan McColl’s sweep and reverse sweep produced vital boundaries as the chase tightened.

With eight needed off the final six balls, McColl was run out attempting a second run, but Slater walked in and immediately delivered the decisive blow over the covers to complete the chase and keep Scotland’s perfect record intact though PNG’s spirited fight made for a compelling viewing.

The morning fixtures saw Thailand and UAE pick up wins against Uganda and Tanzania which meant every team in the top four won their fixture this week. Thailand are set to face UAE in Matchday 6.
